Hey, Cutter,
Are these barrels rifled?
Thanks.

Steve,
Yes, they are rifled.
They are take-off barrels from different manufactures , rifling will vary.

Cutter,
Do you have any experience with
drilling and rifling a barrel?  I am
thinking about making a rifling machine
or modifying a lathe to do the same functions.

Long day in the barn.

Bored and reamed the chambers plus the counter bore.

Notches for the extractors and wedged barrel clamps.

Barrels are finished.

The Sixes are rotating, cocking, and extracting.

With .005 run out I can crank it with my thumb.

I\'ll test the firing pins with some blanks in a couple days

Testing the firing pin one and two barrels at a time with blanks.

2 of the Sixes hitting good, third ones not ready yet.

Here\'s the nut I\'m using for the thrust bearing on the nuzzle end.

Countered bored .110 deep, leaving about .015 clearance to bow.

Radial clearance about .008

3 nylon tipped 4-40 set screws.

Another builder stopped by and took a few parts from one Six Shooter.

After replacing those parts, all three firing again.

Next the Tripods, starting with a brass Yoke and working down

Those are looking great cutter, but there is a few things missing in your photo. Where\'s the clutter at? If I dropped a burrito on your floor accidently, I would pick it up and still eat it. :)

Yea Bruski, When I drop it on my stainless steel table, I\'ll try again.
The floor , well maybe if it bounces.

The major cutting on the yoke is over, still some detailing to come.

I\'m making the yoke saddle from the center drop.

Hey Cutter,
Very nice.  But I am with Bruski.  ( a digression here, hey bruski, how about a drink with a strange old man who just missed his foot?  i am buying.)  Where is the swarf?  I use cutting oil.  I wipe it off with a rag, a brush and then compressed air.  I use a magnet and any thing else i can think of.  My shop looks like the bottom of a rubbish can.  But I would rather work in your shop where there is automatic swarf removal and instant clean up.
One of the things I like to do is to study the background of posted pictures to see what kind of tools are used, what fixtures, what other things are in the back ground.
I still think you are using magic.
You are cheating.

Here\'s the machine I ran the Yokes on.

All enclosed with a chip auger, chips coming out the tube on the left side.

I did scoop out about 70 pounds of brass.

I\'ll post some dirty pictures later.

Steve, how longs your foot been missing ?

Maybe cut back on happy hour.

My vise is still on the floor.  I looked under it but could not find my missed foot.  Good thing I have two of them.

That is one beautiful machine.  I could not see one speck of swarf or drop of oil anywhere.

I notice a rubbish can in the foreground.  What is it used for?
