Cutter, it looks like you have the G codes down to an art. I picked up a Robotool cnc used a while back and so far I have just been using it in the jog mode because I haven\'t been able to spend much time with the Bobcad software yet to actually use the machine to it\'s capability. I have been able to draw a part and post it only to find out that I still need to build the tool library yet. There is still a few other things that I need to set up also, but am unaware of so far. This machine uses the old 3 1/2 inch floppy disk\'s to load programed jobs into it. Those are become harder to find nowadays also. The cotrol panel has keys to enter G codes and such, but I am not familiar enough with it yet to try.Maybe in the future some time I could use some advice about G codes though.

I still write most programs right out of my head/on the fly at work. Drives the \"engineers\" nuts sometimes that I can program and have a part in hand faster than they can program it with software, but something like that is a completely different story. Great job! You should consider engraving custom breech case medallions.

The controler on the Robotool is a CVM-1 and the post processer was downloaded from the Bobcad site into the Bobcad V24 software as far as I know that is all of the software.

You don\'t want a sketch from me, I can\'t draw worth a damn. I was just thinking out loud. Maybe an oval with \"Gatling Battery Gun\" or some such similar to a real one with the makers name and date of completion. A serial number wouldn\'t be a bad idea either. The oval could then be rolled to a 3\" radius and polished out.

Maybe in a fancy font like this one from Anderson Gunworks.
Like I said, just thinking out loud. I\'m not a big fan of the cast ones.

4 axis is software?

I have a 4th axis with mine, but I have not attempted to use it. The machine is ran by mach3....

The machines mechanics and electronics must be set up for 4 axis, also the software that runs the machine.
You\'ll still need software (cad/cam) capable of generating the \"G\" code for the 4th axis.
Most cad cam programs these days will give a 3 axis \"G\" code.
Then it gets pricy for 4 and 5 axis

Curious what your mill is and some details on your 4th axis.     I have a vertex rotary table, stepper driven that I use for a 4th on my bridgeport.   Also, what is the cad/cam used to generate the 4th axis simulation engraving a few posts back?

I have a Syil X4 plus with their 4\" rotary.
Not much power to the rotary, but works well taking small cuts.

Is yours a 4th axis or an indexer ?
 
My cad cam software is Surfcam Velocity 5 axis,

My 4th will function as a indexer or rotary, it is a standard 6\" vertex rotary table that I retrofitted to stepper drive.   I have used it to cut the cams for my D&E gatling, the oscilattor cam, and putting the hex on the end of the barrells.   I hope to get more experience using it in the future.  I am using Mach for control of the bridgeport.

Here\'s a program to try, it\'s on a 2.00 diameter and 1.00 long, but you can hang it out there.

X 0. is on the right with Y & Z center of the rotary

The tool goes .006 deep.
