I received the machined bolts from one of our co-builders , Friday.
Very nice lathe work, much better than my prototype ones.
I spent today Saturday making a fixture for the cnc rotary.
Maybe chips next week

Thanks for breaking the silence !       I may not be making any chips while I get my new shop up and running but I follow the forum daily.    I especially admire your fine work.

I have the cam mounted in the casing for the short barrel ( Shorty )

Good news for the other builders, taped holes in the cam are in correct location

per casing drawing.

I bored the cross hole for the crankshaft, but that\'s all for awhile.
Taken a month or so off

One of the builders had an open machine, so he got

started on the bolts. He\'s using the box the bolt blanks

were shipped in. Great shipping box!

I see you have a counterbore for the rim on the bolts. Are you leaving the counterbore off the face of the barrels?

What kind of steel is your group using for such parts?      The workmanship and finishes are superb !

303, mainly because it\'s corrosion resistance.

There\'s a lot of rust out there

Ha yes, excellent choice !      Stainless gets rid of the rust worry and having to constantly clean and oil so the slightest fingerprint does not turn into a rust-print.

Can u give some more details on your bolts? I\'m making a similar 8 barrel rat and I want to use ruger firing pins and extractors.

Are you using the extractor plunger or the firing pin rebound spring?

Here\'s a little information on the bolt.

The green point is for a 3/32 roll pin.

The firing pin slides under, taking place of the staked area on the original bolt.

The red point for the original 5/32 roll pin through the obround slot in the stock firing pin.

Using stock extractor, spring, & plunger . Rebound spring not required.
