A little more progress on this co-op build.
One of the guys bored the bolt carriers and
put in the slot for the drive pin, and I finished the
cartridge carriers and alignment holes.
Cartridge carriers are 303 stainless.

We are still looking for partners in this build.
I would like someone to do the lathe work on the bolts.
Here\'s what I\'m thinking,
Someone to supply material (303 stainless) and 58 bolts to this sketch.
In return you get both carriers, barrel plate, and 7 of the
bolts after they are finished on the CNC mill.
Open to questions & suggestions.

I cut 6 \" off stock 10/22 barrels.

I\'m planning on exposed rotating barrels. ( no frame to the front )

Bolts are in process, still one slot open

I made a fixture with a taper for holding the stock barrels.
( .4° taper per side )

Had a little get together with some other builders.

And there\'s two more out there.

After tweaking the geometry & spring tension a little more, It seems
to flip out the casing consistently, 75 times anyway.
I\'m also changing the drum drive gear, mounting gear segments on the bolt carrier
instead of the gear on the cartridge carrier.

Any hints on how you get the round to eject and jump off the bolt so neatly? I watched the video a bunch and I\'m stumped. Nice job!

I\'m constantly amazed at everything Cutter does.  Any chance of putting the Mars Rover pictures back up?

Hi gbull,
I have the extractor rotated as far to the right as possible applying
uneven spring pressure on the casing causing it to flip out as soon
as it clears the chamber. My first attempt about three years ago
was with the extractor on top, but the even pressure would hold it in place,
sometimes release it, never knew where it would go.

Notice the slot in the original pan for a kicker, pan
is in 4 parts now. Works good, I\'m not changing that.

Trial & Error

That\'s what we need a Spark to ignite this fading forum.

Have your retrofit ready to go yet ?

I have not worked on the mill in quite a while,  I got  the electronics done and the Z under motion, the X and Y remain.   I got sidetracked !     I built a 32x50 pole barn for a workshop, 10ft ceiling.   It was a lot of work and the end is in sight now, pretty much down to some wiring and pouring the floor.   Gonna be a hell of a shop, something I have always wanted but never had the room.     Meanwile, I picked up a jet 14x40 lathe a few months back, a big improvement from the 9x20 I had.

This is the short barrel version.
