Empty shell casing won't extract
« on: March 15, 2015, 03:37:47 PM »

I remade the bolts from a 2 piece soldered design to the 1 piece solid type.  The strike was breaking the soldered joint out and even shifting the set screw holding it.  Now, when the firing pin hits the shell, it fires, but the rim is expanding from the strike and is sticking in the chamber counterbore.  Any ideas?  I used a chambering reamer, so that\'s all good.

You have a counterbore for the rim, or is it exposed?  Are there toolmarks in the chamber?  Polishing may be the answer.

I\'m going to take the barrels apart and inspect them.  I may try and take a dremel and lightly hone the area where the bullet rim expands from the firing pin strike inside of the rim counterbore.  The pins are ground on the end to leave .025\" sticking out from the bolt face.  The drawing calls for .020\", so that my be an issue, too.  Thanks, for the great advice, Frank.
