A new holding fixture I\'m building for holding work between centers with adjustable center supports for work on the mill. I just finished the dovetail for the tailstock slide. There will be 2 5c collet indexers mounted on top for work holding.

Yes. It is a jig to hold the forearm of the cue between to indexers so material can be milled away for the points.

Currently I use a similar setup and a 5in diameter 90deg cutter. I have to hold the backside of the forearm when cutting to control vibration and keep the chatter down. The new jig will clamp on both ends with collets as opposed to just centers. Also, I am working on a few designs to hold the center of the wood so I donâ€™t have to have my hands anywhere near the cutter. Iâ€™m also going to try using an endmill and nod the head on the Bridgeport instead of the 90deg cutter.

This was the mock-up of the new jig. It will have 2 indexers as opposed to a tailstock.

To increase surface speed of the cutter was the original reason I chose that one.

I like the end mill and tilted head, much less tool pressure

Absolutely. The other setup is on an import mill with a fixed head. Now that I have a Bridgeport Iâ€™m going to give that a try.

Lol. I just noticed in the above photo there is a collet in the DRO collet rack that I donâ€™t use. Any bets itâ€™s the missing 7/8 collet I was turning over the whole shop looking for and finally replaced last week after giving up. I hate it when I do dumb stuff.

I just finished up the base. Just need to clean everything and get it over to the anodizing place. Next up drill the indexers mounting holes and machine the bases to the exact same height. Hopefully Iâ€™ll have that sorted out before the base is completed.

Iâ€™m working on truing up the bases of the indexers today. It took a lot longer the get everything running true for flycutting the bases and drilling the mounting holes. Iâ€™m taking the aluminum base to the anodizing place tomorrow. Hopefully they arenâ€™t too backed up.

I ordered some lever handles so I donâ€™t have to keep an Allen key around to move the tailstock
