About 80% done with gun. Went shopping for gears. No luck. All the gear distributers in our area, northeast pa., say they are obsolete, not available, not made anymore. HELP!!!!!! Any ideas, thanks, Paul

This might be your lucky day. I have one set of gears for the D&E gun. They have been laying around for a while, but there still good. PM me and we can work something out. These gears are from the Boston Gear company if you want to try googling the company. The large gear has a part number H-2020-L on it.

Gears of this type may also be cut on a CNC with a 4th axis using Gearotic Software from the same guy that markets Mach 3.

Given for a 20DP gear the end mill size is going to be pretty small but the software is actually using a gear shaving algorithm to generate a VERY accurate tooth form and helicals are not problem at all. As a result the code file may be very long (160,000 lines for a 60 tooth 10DP Knuckle Gear with a 3/4\" face) but the software generates it very quickly and ready to run if you are using a Mach series controller.

I use it on my Tormach setup to make both spur, helical and knuckle gear sets for \"stuff\". To get a right angle set of helical gears, both are cut using the same hand with a 45 Degree helix.

Even if you don\'t have an interest in cutting gears you might find the Gearotic Web site interesting.

just bought mine this month from motion industries. talked tothem on the phone. at 1st they couldn\'t find them under the old number then she emailed me a quote with the numbers being H2010L & H2020L. i\'m in central pa. & they cost me over $80. after tax & shipping.

Nathan-- I know this an old post but I just ordered those gears from MRO Supply. They had them in stock and were the cheapest I could find out there anywhere. Thanks for the tip
