I received the material to build my bolts yesterday and am debating whether to build them out of one piece or 2. Will the radius at the end of the machined surface present a problem if I go with a one piece bolt. Is it considerably easier to make it in 2 pieces? Thanks Bob

HI Bob,
The 2 piece bolts are easier to make only if you are good with silver soldering. Try and practice with one first to see if you can do this properly or not because the cleanup afterwards is much more work than the soldering part of the job is if there is to much extra solder. Cutter made a batch of one piece bolts a while back that work great as seen in the picture. This bolt is not finished yet, the finished bolts have the firing pin hole drilled and the centering hole is removed from the bolts. Plus, the cam follower is rounded when finished.

I know Cutter makes great looking parts but I want to make everything myself if possible. It's going to be something which keeps me thinking as well as something new to learn. I'm retired now on a fixed income so every thing I can do myself will allow me to buy more parts sooner. Bob

Searching the plans for a diameter/depth for the extractor spring hole in the bolts, but can't find anything. Anyone know what it should be?

HI Don,
I am pretty sure the dimensions are .093 dia. and .300 deep on drawing number 48-21 where the B is circled.
